The hearts and minds of today’s children flourish in the friendly, open and multi-cultural environment that THE MEADOWS offers to both its parents and its young children.
Curiosity is what allows children to explore their own global understanding as they continue to get to know themselves and the world around them. In order to give these children valuable tools for their many discoveries, THE MEADOWS curriculum takes inspiration from multiple frameworks designed for preschoolers starting at age three. We begin to apply the values and cornerstones of this curriculum from a tender age of six months on wards in order to excite our eager learners and set a foundation for the future.
THE MEADOWS focuses on the whole child and all of his or her academic, social, physical, emotional and cultural needs. This holistic approach encourages and prepares young learners to be members of the global community by enabling a deeper understanding of the world through personal experience and exploration.
Using English as the target language, having an international curriculum and welcoming multi-national families are just a few of the ways that allow THE MEADOWS to accomplish its mission.
THE MEADOWS offers three levels of learning:
- Nursery – Little Angels (84 days-2 years)
- Lower Preschool – Twinkle Eyes (2-3 years)
- Upper Preschool/Transition Preschool – Curious Minds (3-5 years)
Each level of learning has a target set of skills and attitudes that are precisely tailored for the physical, emotional and cognitive development of the child at that level.
All levels have the same general elements of learning. These elements include: understanding of concepts, acquisition of knowledge, mastering of skills, development of attitudes and the decision to take responsible action.
The elements create the framework for the six trans-disciplinary themes at THE MEADOWS: who we are, where we are in place and time, how we express ourselves, how the world works, how we organize ourselves and sharing the planet. Each level of learning will experience these elements and thematic units in a different and graduated way. The subjects of language, numeracy, social science and natural science are all integrated components of these units.
Sensory table activities, learning centers, puppet shows and story time are just some of the resources that students have in THE MEADOWS to explore their units. Students who participate in the full-day program will have additional thematic activities in the afternoon and even more time to learn and enjoy.
